Dog Days of Summer

This is Sarge, and if everything goes well after the vet checks him over. He will be a new member of the household and probably my blog as well.
Sarge was found on the side of the road by my niece who stays with me during the week while she attends school locally.
She found him in the area she lives which is 75 miles from here.
Sarge as I named him , had a collar with a vet tag, and license tag from another county some 90 miles from where he was found and 90 miles from me.
We contacted both the vet and licensing office where it was purchased and found out the owners info.
His phone number was disconnected, and there was no way to contact him so I thought.
I decided to look him up on facebook and I found a guy same name who graduated high school last year from the same area as the dog tags!
Great!! I sent him a message to say I found his dog, and to advise what he wanted to do. He replies he sold the dog and had no idea to whom or where they lived...huh?
Really? The red flags went up on that and I figured since the supposed new owners didn't have new tags or a license for him, that perhaps he dumped him.
Anyway he's a sweetheart of a dog, he's laid back like me, and he certainly likes
to be around people too. I leave the room and he's right there next to me to see what's going on.
Time will tell how this works out, but I've wanted a dog for a long time and
Sarge seems like a good fit.
He's no more than a year old so I have time to train him properly too.

Now I have to admit it was weird to go to the pet world store and actually have a dog to purchase for..LOL. You all know what I mean. I had my niece with me so I had to focus on that and the fact I was shopping for Sarge this time.

Still my mind wandered to the "what ifs" and "ohh yeah that would look good around a neck" and the fun that could be had with various other items as well.

Lately my mind has been there alot... you know the part of our lives that's central to why we're here reading or writing.
As I finish this post I'm reminded were in what's known as the dog days of summer,
it all makes perfect sense now.. or does it?

What a gorgeous dog!

Love this line Collar, "it was weird to go to the pet world store and actually have a dog to purchase for." You didn't need to add the know what I mean bit. :)

Congrats on the addition to the family.

On a funny aside, when I had to put my Henry down (just over two years ago now), I was such a wreck that I put his collar on during my drive home. I wore that for nearly 2 weeks. How little did I know...

It's funny, when I used to actually be a collared slave I had worn some very nice collars yet the one that touched my heart the most was the plain old black dog collar that was cut down to size, used on my ass the secured to my throat.

Sarge is definately a good looking guy!
